In addition, neurosurgeons are involved in some patients with Parkinson's disease, or epilepsy. These operations can only be performed by a multidisciplinary team: with the assistance of a neurologist, a specialist in medical imaging, etc.
In patients with Parkinson's disease, two very fine probes are introduced, left in the cerebral hemispheres, to stimulate specific regions of the brain.
Neurosurgeons have come together in different learned societies. In France, the main one is the French Society of Neurosurgery (SFN).
